Do You See Me?

If you look into your own eye in the mirror, you will see yourself looking back at yourself. You are gazing into an endless reflection, staring into infinity to recognize you, only you.

This work is inspired by a well-known Qur’anic verse :
“And We have put before them a barrier and behind them a barrier, and covered them, so they do not see.”

Surah Ya-Sin (36:9)

This verse is often used in popular and spiritual traditions as a form of protection against the evil eye and envy. Beyond this function, the verse carries a deeper meaning: the veil that covers perception and prevents us from seeing things as they truly are.

This veil can be understood as our preconceived ideas, our biases, and the ego that obscures clarity. It is what stands between us and direct perception.

The work becomes an invitation to contemplate that which is looking through your eyes the presence that sees everything, that is aware within every act of seeing. That which some call God, Allah, Atman, Brahman, Waheguru , Dao, cosmic consciousness … or whatever you name it.
