the Magic of 8
This intricate geometrical artwork unfolds as a radiant mandala woven with layers of sacred symbolism. At its center lies the Arabic inscription (يس) — a reference to the Qur’anic chapter Ya-Sin, often called the “heart of the Qur’an,” resonating with spiritual protection and divine blessing.
Radiating outward, the composition reveals eightfold symmetry, echoing the balance of infinity and cycles of renewal. The design is encircled with crescent moons, timeless emblems of transition, rhythm, and illumination in darkness. Between these crescents appear watchful eyes, guardians of perception and inner vision, suggesting both protection and awareness.
Geometric motifs dominate the structure: pyramid-like triangular forms rise from the pattern, signifying ascent, stability, and the bridging of earth with the heavens. Squares and circles interlace, embodying harmony between the material and the eternal.
The interplay of textures — from woven crosshatches to wave-like curves — amplifies the mandala’s rhythm, while the repetition of sacred forms imbues the piece with meditative energy. Altogether, the artwork merges cosmic geometry, Islamic calligraphy, and archetypal symbols into a visual prayer, evoking cycles of life, death, and renewal under the watchful guidance of divine presence.
And yet, to truly feel its essence, one must forget every word of description — and perceive it instead as visual music, a composition of balance and rhythm, where the eye listens and the soul begins to sing.
